IMAGINATION CREATIONS: COMPOSITE IMAGES FOR YOU!

I offer Imagination Creations, which are composite images, to my clients. Why would someone want to pay extra for a composite image? Simply because they make magic happen. As a photographer and an artist, I feel like this type of art has wide appeal.

Creation Process

When creating composite images, I have to start with the end in mind. Therefore, my first step is to talk to my clients about their interests, hobbies, fantasies, and dreams. Sometimes a client may know generally what they want, but sometimes I have to help them discover it.

Once I have a general idea of what is desired, I prefer to begin the process by creating a background. First I assemble the images I need. I use images of my own and those available from stock photo sites to create a background suitable for the desired image. By having access to these sites, I can put you in Paris, make you a mermaid, turn your daughter into a fairy or your son into a professional baseball player, etc. There is no limit to what can be done. I can put the client in outer space or under the sea or riding a dinosaur. I have even turned cats into Sushi chefs!

Of course as your photographer we will need to schedule a time for me to take the images that we will be using. I liek to have a good sense of where the image will be going so that I can match the lighting. These images are often best taken at my studio in Columbia, MD.

Once I have your images, I can begin the compositing process in photoshop using different blending modes and other tools to bring everything together successfully. Depending on what I am making, I may paint the image. For example, for one composite I created a sea monster because, clearly, I can’t find a photograph of one. I would be happy to show you this image in person, but it is going into competition so I cannot share it here yet. It is sometimes better to blend many things together in a painting where I can adjust light and color with how I paint it.

These composite images are especially fun for children of all ages. They see themselves in a differnt way once their fantasies are brought to life. They build self-worth and make the child happy. They are the perfect art for a child’s room.

Adults also like composites. Do you remember a vacation to Banff nostalgically and wish you had an image of yourself at Lake Louise? I can do that. Did you have a secret dream to be an astronaut but your extreme motion sickness dissuaded you from following that career path?
